CORHIO Awarded $12.475 Million Grant to Support CO-REC in Facilitating Electronic Health Record Adoption, February 16, 2010
CORHIO was awarded an ARRA HITECH Regional Extension Center (REC) grant of $12.475 Million from The Office of the National Coordinator of Health IT. National eHealth Collaborative (NeHC) Webinar: NHIN 101: An Introduction to the Nationwide Health Information Network February, 22, 2010
The National eHealth Collaborative (NeHC) is hosting a Stakeholder Forum entitled "NHIN 101: An Introduction to the Nationwide Health Information Network." The first part of the Forum will be an educational presentation by senior officials from the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT and the chair of the HIT Policy Committee's NHIN Workgroup on NHIN Past, Present and Future. The NeHC Board of Directors will then welcome a panel of NHIN pioneers, moderated by Dr. Simon Cohn of Kaiser Permanente, to discuss experiences and lessons learned from NHIN pilot projects.

CORHIO Featured at National HIE Conference, January 20, 2010
On Tuesday, January 20, CORHIO will take the stage at a major Health Information Exchange (HIE) conference. The event - the Healthcare Stimulus Exchange - will kick-off in San Francisco with more than a dozen presentations by health-IT leaders, policy experts and innovators. The program aims to take the stimuls discussion out of Washington and into the regional provider networks where the promise of electronic medical records and 'meaningful use' will be fulfilled.
In a discussion led by Donna Lynne, DrPH, past CORHIO board chair, and Joan Henneberry, current CORHIO board chair, participants will learn about the importance of leadership and stakeholder engagement in developing an effective regional approach to HIE.

Proposed Rule for Meaningful Use & Interim Final Rule for EHR Certification Criteria Released, December 30, 2009
On December 30, 2009, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released the Notice of Proposed Rule Making (NPRM) for definition of "meaningful use" of electronic health records. Also on December 30, 2009, the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONCHIT) released the Interim Final Rule, which sets initial standards, implementation specifications and certification criteria for electronic health record technology. CORHIO's Principal Investigator Appointed by the GAO, April 3, 2009
On April 3, 2009, Dr. Davidson was appointed by the Government Accountability Office as one of 13 members of the Health Information Technology Policy Committee, a new advisory body established by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The committee will make recommendations on creating a policy framework for the development and adoption of a nationwide health information technology infrastructure, including standards for the exchange of patient medical information.

CORHIO & Colorado Immunization Information Service (CIIS) Saturday,

The Colorado Immunization Information System (CIIS) is the electronic
state-wide system for reporting immunization information. It allows
clinicians to rapidly access important immunization health information
when and where it is needed leading to improved vaccine rates and reduced
vaccine-preventable disease.
Supported by a grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC), CIIS will utilize the interface between CORHIO and various data
sharing partners to begin standardizing the transmission of this information
to make its use more efficient and user-friendly. Click

CORHIO Biosurveillance Project, Monday, September 1, 2008
During the DNC, CORHIO served as the secure biosurveillance portal.
Twenty (20) contributing hospitals, as well as public health officials
across the Denver Metro region could securely view daily community surveillance
reports, processed daily by the Colorado Department of Public Health

CORHIO Extends HISPC Contract, Tuesday, April 15, 2008
CORHIO will continue to participate in the federal Health Information
Security and Privacy Collaborative funded by the HHS Office of the National
Coordinator. The focus of the contract will be (1) taking the initial
steps to integrate standards adoption within Colorado and with other
states and (2) expand work on consumer education and engagement.
