“We couldn’t do our jobs without it”

The Health Information Exchange (HIE) network that CORHIO manages is used every day by thousands of caregivers and other healthcare professionals in Colorado. We regularly hear that users couldn’t do their jobs without the HIE – or more importantly, the easy access to clinical data within the HIE. It’s common that our users seek out CORHIO at new jobs – even asking about it during job interviews – because it’s become so valuable in their daily work.

Janet Stauffacher, RN, Executive Director at Laurel Manor Care Center in Colorado Springs, used CORHIO in a previous position and sought to continue using HIE after a job change. “We largely used CORHIO to research hospital documentation on our residents who had been admitted and returned from an acute stay, or to obtain documentation on new residents coming from the hospitals,” she said. 

Laurel Manor Care Center joined the CORHIO network in May, providing their staff with access to PatientCare 360 to query patient records. “The use of CORHIO really helps with continuity of care,” said Stauffacher. “If we’re missing documentation that the primary care provider at the nursing facility needed, or if we want test results, consults, etc, to give better care, CORHIO offers us an efficient way to get information. Efficiency is imperative in any medical treatment. For this reason, I consider CORHIO a valuable partner in our resident care.”
