TNT Special Edition:
Communicating with Primary Care Doctors
7:45-8:10 – Breakfast/Networking
8:10-9:30 – This TNT is a follow up from a past TNT in which the Health District’s Community Impact Team learned that behavioral health providers were very interested in learning how and what to communicate to their client’s primary care providers. This TNT will feature local experts from the Health District/Salud’s Integrated Care team and Lauren O’Kipney from CORHIO, who will be discussing how to work within the HIPAA and CFR 42-2 guidelines for sharing relevant client information. CORHIO specializes in the exchange of health information with the mission of empowering people and communities by providing the information they need to improve health. A form will also be introduced that can be used by behavioral health providers to easily share information with PCP offices.
(PLEASE NOTE: You do not need to have attended the previous TNT in order to attend this one.)
At this training, you will learn:
- What physicians want to know about their patients who are in behavioral health treatment and how best to communicate with them.
- How to utilize the form developed to help provide this information easily.
- What information you can share under HIPAA and CFR 42.
- How best to use a Release of Information and what information it allows you to share.
- How better communication can help your clients and your practice.
