Laboratory Test Results From Two New Senders Now Available

Metropolitan Pathologists (MetroPath) and Gastroenterology of the Rockies have made their test results available to any provider participating in the CORHIO network, which will enhance care coordination and clinical decision-making for community providers.
Having laboratory test results available through the HIE can reduce reordering of unnecessary tests because recent results are available right in the patient’s health record. With all pertinent clinical data in one place, providers can develop more informed treatment plans and better communicate with patients. To this end, CORHIO has successfully connected with two additional laboratories – MetroPath and Gastroenterology of the Rockies in-house lab.
MetroPath Data Now Available
Office-based physicians and other care providers can now access pathology test results from MetroPath via the CORHIO system, improving clinical decision-making, care coordination, and potentially saving significant time. MetroPath is the oldest private Anatomic pathology laboratory in the Rocky Mountain region. The organization has remained independent for over 100 years, providing full services in women’s health, histology, dermatopathology, cytopathology and molecular pathology.
“Metropath is excited to be a part of CORHIO’s health information exchange. We look forward to providers having access to our lab results through this powerful platform that connects the healthcare community in Colorado,” says Ron Sconyers, COO of Metropath. “CORHIO’s solution enables our organization to better align with practices that either do not want another point-to-point interface or do not have an EMR in place at this time. Providers must have access to the data and CORHIO has established a platform that connects everyone in the delivery of healthcare.”
Gastroenterology of the Rockies Data Now Available
With the intent to enhance communications with referring partners and other community providers, Gastroenterology of the Rockies has made pathology test results available in the CORHIO health information exchange. The physician-owned group has eight clinical sites, including five endoscopy centers located throughout the greater Denver-Metro area and Boulder County. This connection marks the first independent pathology laboratory data sender to make results available in the CORHIO HIE.
“Collaborating with CORHIO on this pathology reporting project enables us to deliver results quickly internally and to referring providers. This allows us to enhance our care decisions, increase care-collaboration with referring providers, and communicate results to our patients more quickly,” says Cody Carlin, Gastroenterology of the Rockies Ancillary Services Manager.
CORHIO network participants now have access to Gastroenterology of the Rockies pathology results and MetroPath laboratory results via PatientCare 360, the secure online portal. EHR integrated users can request access to this data by contacting their CORHIO Project Manager.
CORHIO’s Robust Laboratory Data Network
MetroPath and Gastroenterology of the Rockies join four other laboratories in the state that are sending results into the health information exchange – LabCorp, Quest Diagnostics, Colorado Lab Services, and Schryver Medical. Additional labs are in the process of connecting to CORHIO including Cedar Diagnostics, UniPath and Touchstone Medical Imaging. In addition, 61 hospitals and the Health Images/Colorado Springs Imaging centers are sending patient test results into the CORHIO system.
